Data
A database you shape yourself
Most no-code tools store your records as loose bundles of text and hope for the best. Volume builds a properly structured database for them, dedicated to you. That is what makes reporting across many relationships, flexible links between records and fast formulas possible.
What you can do
Your business, modelled properly. Not a spreadsheet in disguise
Define the things your business deals with, the details you hold about them and how they relate, all in the UI. Volume builds a proper database for them, dedicated to you. Claims, matters, policies, properties, clients, invoices: whatever the business calls things.
18 field types
Text, text area, email, date, date-time, time, checkbox, number, dropdown, multi-select, computed, file, relationship, structured data, colour, flexible link, phone number and assignee.
9 relationship types
One-to-one and one-to-many in both directions, links that pass through intermediate records, and links that can point to more than one kind of record.
Live changes
Creating an object creates its table on the spot. Renaming, adding, retyping and dropping fields take effect immediately, with no rebuild or release.
Around 40 per-field options
Required, unique, defaults such as current date or user, min/max, lengths, decimals, prefix/suffix, allowed file types, auto-generated reference numbers, tooltips and per-surface visibility.
Formula fields
Write the formula yourself or use the visual builder. Results can be text, number, checkbox or date, and existing records are filled in for you.
Uniqueness and duplicate rules
Rules such as “no two invoices may share a number” are enforced by the platform, not left to users. Duplicate detection with four matching modes that can block or allow on create and edit.
Permissions generated per object
Create, view, update and delete rights are created with the table and renamed with the object. Access for connected systems can be limited field by field.
Field-level protection
Encryption at rest, audit masking with show-first/show-last, and twelve anonymisation strategies.
Enterprise grids
Grids built for large datasets: filters on every field, inline editing, global search and related-record fields, with named saved views storing filters and layout.
Any combination of filters
Combine filters with and/or groups, such as “(1 and 2) or 3”, not just one long list.
Record view builder
A drag-and-drop page designer with nine component types, nested containers, draft/publish and per-role overrides.
Reusable import profiles
Excel and CSV files with sheet selection, field mapping, matching to related records, twelve clean-up steps, validation rules, and a choice of adding, updating or both.
A complete audit trail
Every change recorded and browsable, per record and across the whole estate, filterable by entity and author.
No limit on fields
Add as many fields as your processes need and keep adding them as your business changes, so the model grows with you rather than holding you back.
Ready for your integrations
Every object you define is available to connected systems the moment it’s created, with access limited field by field and every change recorded.
How it works
Three steps, no tickets to engineering
1
Model the business
Create objects, add fields and configure them. Volume creates the tables and permissions.
2
Connect them
Define relationships, including links through intermediate records and links to more than one kind of record, with their own filters and ordering.
3
Use it everywhere
Grids, imports, record pages, workflows, communications and reports all pick up the new model immediately.
What makes it different
Because the data is properly structured, everything above it can rely on it: reporting across many relationships at once, totals and averages over related records, formulas that stay fast at scale and rules the platform itself enforces. A product built on loose text cannot do that.
